Experience Matters in Organisations

Sadly many organisations have traditionally assumed that as people get older their performance at work dips, their attitude becomes less flexible and they sit waiting for retirement. We do not believe this to be the case. Most of the older clients we work with are energetic and feel that they still have much to offer and grow old gracefully.

Experience Matters provides consultancy and guidance on systems and policies to ensure an age-inclusive environment. We work with age-diverse groups to stimulate effective inter-generational team-working and maximise productivity

We also offer an organisational package of telephone and face to face coaching sessions for individuals planning either full or part time retirement or who have other work related issues that would benefit from one to one sessions.

Training and workshops

Programmes can be tailored to specific client requirements. Two sample workshops:

Workshop One:
Managing and Re-energising your older Workforce
A programme for line managers, team leaders and HR professionals

Team Building
A programme for line managers, team leaders and HR professionals This programme enables participants to identify specific challenges within their organisation or team and develop strategies to manage, value and motivate their older staff to continue to contribute.

By the end of the workshop delegates will have:

  • Scenario-planned the future and its implications for individuals and stakeholders
  • Identified specific issues of the 'unnatural' order of the new demography so as to demonstrate the value placed in their older workforce
  • Created a plan to change cultural stereotypes so that young and old can work creatively to share knowledge and perspectives
  • Developed actions to support, manage and motivate older employees to leverage their knowledge and skills for peak performance

Workshop Two:
Tapping Your Knowledge Resource. Feeling empowered as a member of the older workforce. The youth-focused policies of many organisations have left older workers feeling redundant before their time. This programme is designed to enable individuals to feel confident and valued within the changing environment.

By the end of the workshop delegates will have:

  • Explored what ageing means to them and how to maintain health and energy
  • Found ways to make a positive choice to stay engaged at work
  • Identified how to value their own skills and knowledge for the benefit of all
  • Recognised what it takes to be a confident and continuous learner.
