| Anon: I've had a horrible Christmas and my family aren't talking. | January 5, 2010, 11:12 am |
| We had a horrible Christmas this year. My sister got angry with my mother, over some silly thing. So I then got angry with her for being rude and hurtful. My husband told me off for interfering! My sister stormed out and my mother then got cross with me! Now no one's really talking to anyone. What can I do to sort this out without upsetting everyone? | |

| Christmas can be such a difficult time for families. However old we are and however many difficult Christmases we've had, we still revert to that childhood memory of a perfect day. We work so hard to get it right that we're in danger of reaching December 25 tense and exhausted. And then we spend the whole day with the family in one room, over-eating and over-drinking and wonder why it ends in tears! I know I've painted a pretty grim picture but, if you look at it like this, you won't give yourself such a hard time. You ask what you can do? Well, how have you done it in the past because I'm certain you must have had other rows over the years? Talk to them. Say sorry. Explain yourself to anyone you think misunderstood you and tell them all that life is too short to sulk. I'm sure it'll soon blow over. |
