| Helen: My daughter has just gone to Australia to live... | February 2, 2010, 11:32 am |
| My daughter has just gone to Australia to live. She met an Australian boy who was working in the UK. Although they are not together she is convinced that she will have a better life with better opportunities there and she has arranged to go initially for one year but is hoping to then stay. I really really miss her (she's only been gone one month) and I am getting very depressed just thinking about it. | |

| my son went travelling last year for a few months as he didn't know what to do for a job here - just for six months. he came back in september last year and because he loved it so much he has now decided he is going to go and live in the far east. he is only 21 and just after christmas off he went, saying he was going to go away for at least a year and find a job out there. He said everything was better in another country. He knows we miss him, and he does miss us, but there was no stopping him. My wife has been very depressed this year and I find it difficult too, but harder to show my feelings. We know he has to do what he feels is best, but it is hard for us! | ||

| My daughter has recently moved to New Zealand and hopes to live in NZ or Australia permanently. It is very hard to start with but does get slightly easier to cope with as time goes by (nearly 2 months now). Skype video calls help and there are lots of cheap phone call options to keep in touch - good, but not the same as actualy seeing them. The cost of going out there for a visit is expensive, one option that we have considered is for the family to chip in towards the air fare for my daughter to come back to the UK and visit us. |
