EXPERIENCE MATTERS

AUGUST NEWSLETTER

Website Home

Dear all

I hope you are well and had a good summer in spite of it being the wettest August in living memory.

I spent a very wet week in Edinburgh at the festival. If you had told me
before I went that I wouldn't mind queuing in torrential rain I wouldn't have believed you, but the calibre of the events made up for it.

I was lucky enough to be invited to join Esther Rantzen and Diane Athill
at the Book festival. Our session was called 'Life in the Third Age'. We all
read from our books (mine in case you have forgotten is 'Who's That
Woman in the Mirror? The Art of Ageing Gracefully', and then answered
questions from the audience. I was particularly impressed by Diane Athill who at 90 held us all enthralled and continues to see life as exciting and a challenge.

One of the things that struck me was how many of the speakers at the Book Festival and the presenters at the main fringe events were over 50 and some by several years, all highly motivated and, it appeared, unaware of their age. I think we can take a leaf out of their book.

So enough of the past - what has the future got in store for us at Experience Matters? Our Looks workshop is on the
27th of September.  We have decided to take a larger room so there are still some spaces. You don't have to feel bad about how you look to come, most of  us can learn something from the experts as to how to dress or how to makeup.  I know for myself that I have had to change my style a bit as I get older - a few  tips have certainly helped me !

Our 'How to Set up your own Business' workshop is full. Next year we will be running our workshops both during the week and at weekends but for now we have limited them. Why you might ask? - I am writing a second book in the 'Who's that' series, called 'Who's that sleeping in my bed'. Also published by Headline, so I am therefore taking some time out so I meet the deadline. I will keep you posted re its progress.

If any of you would like to drop me a line about relationships when 50+
Please do. I will of course acknowledge you in the book.

We have also been approached by www.50connect.com and the Mature Times to write articles for their newsletters, so our work is getting to a bigger audience. We are delighted by the response.

Have a good September and please continue to send your questions and
comments and booking your coaching sessions.

Best wishes
