FEBRUARY 2010 NEWS |
|
| Dear All, I hope you are surviving our cold winter. I know the weather has been high on everyone's agenda. One of the things that struck me as I carefully walked to the tube was how some things are affected by age. I found myself worrying about falling in a way I hadn't before. Several people have commented to me how lonely it made them. They felt that they couldn't get out except for essential activities so their social life had dwindled. This is particularly hard for those who live alone. Fortunately however we now have great means of communication so with telephone, text and E mails there is no need to feel isolated. If you find yourself stuck, do go onto our website and join our forum and start a conversation with others. I have to admit that I've been very fortunate as I've had three weeks away from the cold in Australia. I've been visiting two sons who are living there at the minute (that's the down side). I've also been on Australian radio promoting my book and will start writing for two Australian journals. Although Australia seems to have avoided the recession, well certainly compared to the UK, their 50+ are facing many of the same issues as we do. It's been really interesting discussing this with them and I plan to do a bit more work there later in the year. Winter can also take a toll on how we feel so if any of you are wanting some pampering why not come to our Looking and Feeling Good workshop on 6th March. This has been our most popular workshop to date and I've had great feedback from participants who felt their confidence grow as well as learning techniques to enhance their looks. Take a look at www.experiencematters.org.uk and sign up. We also have coming up Health and Wellbeing on 20th March. Our other workshops and courses are 'Interview Skills and CV writing', 'Managing Parents and being the sandwich generation', 'Separation and Divorce' and 'Love, Sex and Relationships'. For details of these workshops please contact us by email or phone. Send your problems and dilemmas to us and we will answer you online or put your question on our forum for other members to respond to. A problem shared is a problem solved. I look forward to seeing you at the next workshop and hearing from you through our website. Best wishes Keren |
